This par 72 Donald Ross course is a hidden gem.

With elevated greens, gentle sloping fairways, and stunning views in every direction, Bald Peak has become one of the most desirable courses to play in New England. Bald Peak offers multiple tee boxes designed for players of all skill levels, from the most accomplished to the occasional golfer.  At 6515 yards from #5 tee and 6204 yards from the Men's tee, a Golf Week course rater described Bald Peak as, "The best course in New Hampshire." Bald Peak has built its golfing reputation with family oriented programs, superior course condition, and a friendly atmosphere that welcomes and encourages all members.

In August 1922, an International Exhibition golf match was arranged--18 holes in the morning, 18 holes in the afternoon. The players were Francis Ouimet and Jessie Guilford--American Team, and Jack Taylor and Sandy Herd-- British Team. The morning's match play was all even. In the afternoon Ouimet and Guilford won 3 and 1. Some years later, a Bald Peak member played in a foursome with Sandy Herd near London. Sandy asked the member if he knew a club in New Hampshire where every tee looked down to a beautiful lake or up to a gorgeous mountain. When the member named Bald Peak, he replied "That was it. The most beautiful golf course I played in America."

Today's golf calendar offers a wide array of events for men, women and juniors including traditional member and guest tournaments, gourmet golf, and family golf events. Friday Twilight rounds, followed by a cook-out on the terrace, are one of the club's most popular events. There are also a variety of clinics and lesson options for adults and juniors.

Hole 1 - Get Away

Men's Par: 4
Women's PaR: 4

The opening hole at Bald Peak starts with a risk reward shot for the longer hitter. Playing downhill only 298 yards, a strong tee shot could start your round in a very positive way. However, caution is needed as this short hole has many dangers to manage. The contour of the land is not only downhill, but left to right, making it difficult for the eye to commit to the line. Heavy fescue grass awaits a slightly right of center shot. The green is a very typical Donald Ross contoured surface with two distinct tiers. Players that land the ball short of the back tier flagstick will have a difficult time two putting.
